Animation Film Festival in Japan
International animation film festival in Japan presenting competitive programs for short and feature films. Academy Awards qualification applies to designated animated short film awards.
Premiere Requirements:
National Premiere
- Eligible formats are limited to Feature Films (over 31 minutes runtime) and Short Films (under 30 minutes runtime).
Films must be unreleased in Japan prior to festival presentation. - Entries previously awarded at other festivals are eligible, provided a complete list of all prior awards is submitted.
- Non-English or non-Japanese language films require English subtitles; Japanese films selected for competition must include English subtitles.
- Premiere status is not required. Exclusions apply to VR projects.
- Pre-selection submissions must be provided via streaming links.
- Screening formats are restricted to 16mm, 35mm, or DCP (Digital Cinema Package).
