Premiere Requirements:
Regional Premiere
- Eligible works are nonfiction films only, including short, mid-length and feature documentaries as defined by the organizer’s runtime categories.
- Features and mid-length films must hold at least an Ontario premiere, and short films must hold at least a Toronto premiere, with no prior public screenings or broadcasts for audiences in the relevant region.
- Online availability is restricted in line with the applicable regional premiere requirement and may render a submission ineligible if it conflicts with this status.
- Works previously submitted in any version are not eligible for resubmission.
- Submissions must be provided in English, English-versioned or with English subtitles, with any required translation, subtitling or dubbing to be supplied at the submitter’s expense.
- If selected, the festival requires delivery of a compliant DCP for exhibition and may request additional technical elements including an English closed-caption file for qualifying English-language long-form works.
- Each submitted film must have its own secure online screener and fully completed submission materials, with the festival reserving the right to determine country-of-production, Canadian versus international status, and final programming category.
